3v3 Tournament
Good turnout at the 3v3 tournament. We had eight teams that ended up playing and got in a few pickup games at the end. Two Fruits and a Lemon walked away with first wit ha good showing from everyone. Took a look at a guy we're going to start trying to work in. Rough for speedball skills, but a pretty decent recball player. Got to meet a few good people and it was a good time hanging out with friends.

Stressful Week for the Team
This week has been rather stressful on the team as a whole with our local 3v3 tournament coming up. We're making an emergency run to Hinkle to pick up some paint we've gotten from DXS for the event. Everyone has been on edge and there has been quite a bit of 'fighting in the pits' as teams know it. We've gotten back together and solved our issues and hope to have a good set of practices before our next event on the 5th of November. We're focusing on our movement skills and some other communication drills and hopefully that'll translate to some quicker wins and some more aggressive movement during games. If you're reading this, thank you for your support and dedication to the team.

Second Tournament Over and an Introduction
So I might have missed recapping the first two tournaments in real time... But I figure this is a good way to start/get some more detailed information out. How about an introduction first?
I'm James Clark, and I'll be writing this blog solo (mostly). I'm originally from Las Cruces, NM and moved to Socorro, NM for college. I started playing a few years back at my best friend's birthday party and was hooked on paintball ever since. I quickly found myself moving through gear till I ended up with an 06 Ego and played with that for my freshman year. In that year I found myself getting third in a tournament with some other Techies and winning a local beginner level tournament with some ABQ guys in the spring. I was shuttled over to the Dortio side at that first tournament and just developed myself into a mid/Dorito front player. Thats pretty much where I stand.
Wade Kloppenburg is one of my oldest friends from Tech and is undoubtedly the least experienced guy on the team. Thats nothing against him though, as he has powered through the learning curve of paintball faster than anyone else I've ever met. He is also the quietest and most controlled out of the team and plays a mean corner. He's probably one of the best at holding down his man and I've only seen him lose a gunfight about twice.
Jonathan Logan is from Montana and is our designated beard wearer. He has probably been the most involved in paintball for the longest out of the current lineup. He's our snake player, and for a bigger guy, he plays it really well. He fits into our controlled game plan by getting into snake and controlling about two or three guys or a big zone. He's not afraid to get into the other snake and start stabbing people, but he's doing really well in our current lineup.
Sean Simmons is the best 1v1 player on the team and a mean corner/back player. He'll go through 11 pods a game and isn't afraid to take the sacrifice and run down the highway to trade with a problematic player. He's easily the most relaxed player and it shows in his game. He's a very calculating player and doesn't make dumb decisions.
Aguie Debellius is our go to back center player. He's the best laner on the team and we like to use that. He plays tight, hard, and usually gets a G every break. He's also one of the older guys and played on what is now a D1 team. He's bringing the experience and coaching to this team, something we need to refine our game.
Steven Asher is without a doubt the most aggressive player on our team. Taking pivotal front bunkers off the break and ending every game on the other team's tape. He was picked up at our first local tryout and fits really well with the calm back line.
Tracy Duncan is the owner of Zia Customs, one of our biggest sponsors. She started out doing custom embroidery and then moved into paintball and supports the team to the bitter end. You'll see her on our jerseys, headbands, pants, well, if we wear it, she's involved in it.
SCCC #1- Our first tournament together, we struggled early trying to adjust to NCPA's style of play and the change in weather. The humidity killed our setups and the style of play decimated our breakout plans. After the second game of the tournament, we got it together and won a game. We came back out only to lose the first game of our fourth set by a body or two. Just simple mistakes we made brought us down. We spent the next bit of time in the pits trying to adjust to actually play competitively. In the second round we came back out and lost to Baylor Gold (shoutout- while stomping us into the ground, they were all pretty sociable and helping because of our rookie season). Our next game was tough loss but in our second game against A&M Black we won the second game and didn't play the third. We then came out strong with a change in the breakout and won our last game of the second set against Red Raiders Black. We then went on to win the third game of the set and finished eighth in the tournament.
SCCC #2- Despite a pretty scary highway experience on the way to Houston, we came out of the gate with being scheduled the first game and walked off the field with a commanding win. Our second game was against Sam Houston and as one of the better teams in the tournament, we lost pretty bad. After a quick rebound we came out and played Tulane who showed with a really young and inexperienced roster. We won that game aswell and when we walked off set up a coaching agreement as we both showed up slightly underhanded. Our final game of the first set was against A&M's #2 team and we ended up losing some gun battles and left me stuck in back center looking at three guys. I tried to battle it out for time and ended up getting bunkered. Fortunately, I had clipped one of their hoppers and when they hung the flag, got a penalty for a dirty hang and we walked off with the point. In the second set, we knocked out the first team and were handed another loss by Sam Houston. The game came down to a 3 on 1 with Jonathan on three of the BearKats. He blew a guy up (we all thought so) walking into the 50 and bumped into snake. Tulane's sideline coaching called out when a guy started coming down snake to trade out and Jon blew him up too. He turned and caught a guy watching another bunker just in time for the ref to call the first guy clean and Jon get shot up in snake. The paint was pretty terrible in his defense. A really good showing though. We then walked through Tulane for that point and didn't play a game three. Unfortunately, A&M white got their stuff together and beat us pretty handily in the second game. Two of our guns going down didn't help, but they played well, they earned that win. When we played our game three against A&M we ended up in their dorito insert and 50 dorito with me and Steve (in those front bunkers) picking paint up off the ground because the point lasted so long. Sean came from center and traded with the dorito corner and it was me, Steve, and Jon working out back center and snake corner. Unfortunately, time ran out and they were awarded the series win. We walked out one game away from a tie for third and ending 7th in the tournament after coming in 6th for prelims.
